Neve de novo. Às vezes uma rajada
faz girar os flocos que caem em linha reta.
Uma dúzia de pardais se faz
diminuta nos galhos nus da
Rosa-de-Saron, flores do ano passado
emaranhadas nas pontas dos ramos.
Que eu nunca me torne indiferente à perda.

New Year
Snow again. At times a gust
swirls the straightly falling flakes.
A dozen sparrows make themselves
small in the bare limbs of the
Rose-of-Sharon, last year’s blossoms
ragged clumps on the stem ends.
May I never harden to loss.
