Eu me estendia
aquelas noites silenciosas permaneceram comigo. Sinápticas, fugazes, estranhas. Cada
cauda flamejante. Cada pós-imagem ardendo por dentro. Todas as estrelas mortas
Deneb. Vega. Kochab. Altair.
Rigel. Antares. Sirius. Capella. Elas nos lembram aqueles que amamos.
O quão sós estamos na partida. Pensamentos tão breves inscritos no firmamento.

The universe, she’s wounded
But she’s still got infinity ahead of her
She’s still got you and me
-GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV
When I was a boy, I slept on the lawn during summer nights like these.
Bats flew through the leaves of eucalyptus and stirred the air with cries
that washed over me in waves, the sound of their hunger baffled
by the damp cross-hatching of the grass. I stretched out
on that slender matting so I might catch the evanescent trail of a meteor
in descent. And while no organized religion has ever spoken to my soul,
those quiet nights stay with me. Synaptic, fleeting, strange. Each
fiery train. Each afterimage burning within. All the dead stars
and ancient rivers of light that have traversed the expanse of time.
The mystery of it housed within us. Deneb. Vega. Kochab. Altair.
Rigel. Antares. Sirius. Capella. They remind us of those we love.
Each of us, in the departure, alone. Such brief thoughts written across the sky.
